What is Disneybounding?

Hardcore Disney people are aware of the term Disneybound or Disneybounding, but to the rest of the world, what is it? At its core, Disneybounding is dressing as a Disney character using regular clothing that reflects the colors and essence of the characters. This is not a costume. This part is very important. Inside the Disney parks, adults are not allowed to wear costumes, except during the Halloween parties. As a result, Disneybounding was invented. This allows adults to dress in ways that seem similar to characters without being in a costume. However, these looks can be done in everyday life. This is my personal preferred method, and it’s a fun Easter egg for my friends to see if they can guess who I am supposed to be. Seem complicated? It’s really not. I’ll give some general examples below, then I will give a visual example of a Disneybound that I recently did. All of this is leading up to a surprise announcement at the end of this post!

Say you are wearing red pants, a black shirt, white shoes, and a yellow headband. Who are you? It’s simple really; Mickey Mouse! You could wear those colors in any combination and get the same outcome. If you have a bow on your headband, then it would be Minnie Mouse. Another example: blue dress, white cardigan, black flats, ponytail with a blue bow; Belle! Wear the same outfit but with a black headband instead of a blue bow, and you’re Alice. Wear a green dress, ballet flats, high bun, and you’re Tinkerbell. Blue pants, a white shirt, a red belt, and black boots make Prince Eric. Green pants and a purple shirt make Ariel. Now do you get the idea? It’s actually pretty simple, and you could wear these looks every day, and most people would never notice. Ready for another example with pictures? You got it.

Here is a Disneybound that I recently did. I decided to dress as Aurora, or Sleeping Beauty. Aurora’s colors are pink and blue with gold accessories. I decided to wear a pink dress and pair it with blue and gold accessories. For the accessories, I chose a blue sash, blue earrings, a blue bangle bracelet, a gold necklace, and gold shoes. I also tried the look with silver shoes that fade from pink to blue, but they didn’t translate as well on camera when I took these pictures. I have included some them in some of the pictures, but I preferred the look of the gold shoes. For my makeup, I went with a rosy gold eyeshadow with blue eyeliner on the upper lash-line, gold eyeliner on the lower lash-line, and rose pink lipstick. I also went with a bit of a darker blush and a gold-toned highlighter. I wanted the look to be natural, but still play into Aurora’s color palette. All in all, it wasn’t a bad Disneybound, but I will probably redo this one at some point with all pink and all blue outfits. That’s the fun thing about Disneybounds; there are multiple ways to do the same character, so you can do it over and over again, and never the same way twice. What do you think of the look?

Alright, I’ve left you waiting long enough. Ready for the big announcement? I’m starting a new series here on Elizabeth’s Magical World. It’s called A Disneybound a Week. Every week, I’m going to post a Disneybound that I’ve recently done. I’ll break down the look, and what went into creating it. This will be in addition to my regular posts. So, hopefully, I’ll be posting twice a week for the foreseeable future. I’ll keep going on the Disneybounds until I run out of ideas, which may take a while. Do you have any specific characters that you would like to see? If so, comment below and let me know what they are. I can’t make any promises that I will be able to do them, but I can promise to do my best to do as many as I can. Some characters are much harder to Disneybound than others. What do you think of the new series?
