My Favorite Disney Foods

Everyone who has ever been to Walt Disney World knows the food is fantastic. We all know the iconic foods: Mickey Waffles, Mickey Pretzels, Dole Whip, etc. Let’s be honest, everything Mickey-shaped just tastes better. I love Disney food. I am forever adding to my list of foods I want to try, and the must-have foods. As someone who has eaten a lot of Disney food in my years, I wanted to share my favorite foods with you. These are not only the foods that I have to eat every time I go, but the foods that I literally dream about. I’ll break it down by park, Disney Springs, resorts, and then list the honorable mentions that are no longer offered. I don’t have pictures of all of the foods listed, but I have included the ones that I do have.

Let’s start where it all began: Magic Kingdom. Probably my favorite here is the Gaston’s Tavern Cinnamon Roll and LeFou’s Brew. The cinnamon roll is huge and gooey, and the LeFou’s Brew is a great cold drink that is perfect on a hot day. I also really like the lobster roll at Columbia Harbor House. It’s one of the few places that I can get good lobster at an affordable price. Finally, we have the Grey Stuff at Be Our Guest. What person wouldn’t love the grey stuff? While I would prefer it with a little more dark chocolate on the base as opposed to white chocolate, I still love it none-the-less. The Cheshire Cat Tail is at the top of my must-try list, and has been for years. Every time I go, something has prevented me from getting to try it. Hopefully, I will get to try it soon.

EPCOT is known for its food. It is the park that has the largest amount of my favorite Disney foods, and it is a race every trip to see how many of my favorites I can get. My number one, must get every single trip, as many times as humanly possible, is the Pain au Chocolat from Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie. I adore French cuisine, and French pastries are my favorite. It is so hard to find good French pastries where I live, and EPCOT is where I have found the best pastries outside of France itself. The Rose and Crown Dining Room may be known for their fish and chips, which are great by the way, but I fell in love with their Shepherd’s Pie the last time I ate there. It was the ultimate comfort food for me, and I have been trying to figure out how to recreate it ever since. I love pasta, and the best I have ever had, hands down, is the Fettuccine at Tutto Italia Ristorante. It had the perfect flavor, was so creamy, had homemade pasta, and I savored every single bite. I also love crêpes, and I found the Housemade Hazelnut & Chocolate Spread Crêpe to be fantastic. The crêpe has a wonderful chewy texture, and the chocolate spread is warm and melty. Since mentioning fish and chips earlier, I have to say that I do love the Fish and Chips at Rose and Crown, but I usually get my Fish and Chips from the Yorkshire County Fish Shop. It’s almost exactly like those at Rose and Crown, but at a quick service location, which frees me up to get the Shepherd’s Pie at Rose and Crown.

Hollywood Studios is where I tend to get my more “traditional” Disney food, but also has some great options all its own. I personally love the Felucian Kefta and Hummus Garden Spread at Docking Bay 7. Sometimes it can get a little spicy for my taste, but I love it all the same. Don’t necessarily take my advice on spicy though, I am incredibly mild when it comes to food. I love flavor, but can’t tolerate much spice at all. I’m a big fan of the Lunch Box Tarts at Woody’s Lunchbox. I’ve had the Lemon Blueberry and the Pumpkin Spice, and really enjoyed them both. The “Totchos” at Woody’s Lunchbox was just as good as everyone says, and it’s a recipe I look forward to recreating at home as soon as possible. However, my number one Hollywood Studios go-to snacks are Mickey Pretzels and Frozen Lemonade at Anaheim Produce. Anaheim Produce has my favorite frozen lemonade on property. It is a true frozen lemonade, not a slushy, and isn’t in a tiny little cup like some places have started doing. It’s the frozen lemonade I love from Disney, and I can enjoy my Mickey Pretzel in the shade of Sunset Boulevard. Of course, it has to have cheese sauce.

Animal Kingdom has some great food, if you know where to look, but my favorites are both found in Pandora. Since I’m not big on spice, African food is hard for me to eat. I’m not super fond of Asian food, but I do really like the Honey Chicken found at Yak and Yeti Restaurant and Yak and Yeti Local Foods. My favorite foods, though, can be found at Satu’li Canteen and Pongu Pongu in Pandora. At Satu’li Canteen, my favorite food is the Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse. It was, by far, the best thing I have ever eaten at Animal Kingdom. I would go to Satu’li Canteen just to eat that. At Pongu Pongu, I simply have to have a Night Blossom on a hot day. It’s a layered frozen drink that is totally Instagram worthy. I prefer to leave off the Boba balls, but that’s just because I don’t like the popping sensation in my mouth. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I can be a bit of a picky eater.

Disney food doesn’t stop with the parks, though. Disney Springs is a food destination in and of itself. If you’ve never spent enough time at Disney Springs to enjoy some of the unique food that it has to offer, I question if you’ve truly done Disney Springs. I personally can’t go to Disney without going to get chocolate at The Ganachery, and their gourmet, custom-made s’mores will ruin all other s’mores for you. The Mickey Mousse at Amorette’s Patisserie tastes as good as it looks, and it looks adorable. Just look at the picture at the top of the page if you don't believe me. Fish and Chips from Cookes of Dublin is a must if I know I’m not going to EPCOT. I’m really picky about my burgers, but the Barbecued Burger from D-Luxe Burger is always a go-to for me. There is so much food available at Disney Springs, and I really encourage you to take the time to try some of it out. The resorts are the place to get your hands on some Mickey Waffles. They’re offered in some form or fashion at every Disney resort, and I have to eat them for breakfast at least once every trip.

Honorable mentions are foods that I love, but are no longer offered, or are a seasonal offering. The top on the list is the Peter Pan Float. This used to be offered at Storybook Treats at Magic Kingdom, but it went away during the 50th Anniversary Celebration. I’m hoping that it makes a comeback. It’s lime Dole Whip floating in Sprite, with a red chocolate feather. It was so light and refreshing, and I miss it all the time. I was also able to get lime Dole Whip at Pineapple Lanai at the Polynesian Village Resort, but I’m not sure that it’s still being offered. Lemon Dole Whip is another favorite of mine, but also hard to find anymore. The gingerbread sold during Christmas at the Grand Floridian Resort and the Contemporary Resort are both incredible, and I highly recommend both if you happen to be there during the holidays and go to see their incredible gingerbread displays. During the Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT, I fell in love with the falafel at Tangierine Café and the gnocchi at the Italy food booth. Both were incredible, but were only offered as part of the festival.

I hope that you enjoyed reading about my favorite Disney foods, and I hope that you have found some new foods that you would like to try when next at Walt Disney World. I find that being at Walt Disney World is the best place and best reason to try new foods, and I have found some great new favorites that I can incorporate into my meals at home every day. It’s a great way to remind myself of Disney, even when I’m at home. If you’re interested in learning more about all of the different foods offered at Walt Disney World, I highly recommend the Disney Food Blog. You can find them on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. They have provided me with a lot of inspiration for my must-try list, and give great, unbiased reviews of almost any Disney food you could ever want to know about. Now, all that’s left for you to do is to get inspired, and try all the food next time you’re at Walt Disney World. What new favorites will you find?
